Once Upon A Time…
…in 2003, a strapping young lad and fair maiden met in yon fraternity house over a mutual love of Milk Duds, hot dogs and Disney music. Upon seeing that the lad unashamedly loved Jesus and the soundtrack to Anastasia, the fair maiden declared her intentions of marrying him that day. Whilst the declaration was in jest, he indeed wooed her with a his charm and good looks, eventually winning her heart in an artfully penned and carefully placed note in her wallet. His eloquent words moved her heart.
I have been praying about this, and I have to tell you that I really like you.
Warrior poet, he was. In the days that followed they shared a kiss and three years later, marriage vows. On that illustrious late summer day in 2006, they pledged their love and lives to one another, they dreamed of suburban homes alive with laughter and the pitter-patter of little feet. They had plans to ensure that they never succumbed to the trivialities of life, letting their love for one another always shine through even in the most difficult of times. They had a commitment to a life that honored the Lord, howevermuch that dream looked like a sitcom utopia. They had, as all newlyweds do, plans and ideals of the grandest nature.
Their firstborn, Caroline at Christmas of 2007, who proved to be a child of remarkable intuition, spirituality, empathy and intelligence. Caroline would become a exemplary oldest sibling, leading her sisters and showering them with love, affection and
occasional bossing sisterly advice.
Next came Brinley, screaming into being a fortnight before Thanksgiving in 2010. She proved to be a uniquely special blessing. Determined, loving, spunky and autistic, Brinley’s challenges and triumphs would test their faith, limits and love, but also grow them.
Finally came Ella Ryan, in the early fall of 2012, who proved to be the sassiest and silliest of them all. With personality to spare, Ella Ryan rounded out their family as only God could perfectly plan.
As this family grew, God placed a desire on Ashley’s heart to write, to speak and to encourage other through the sharing of their story, even as it is unveiled to them. This is that story. It is a tale of love, faith and triumphs. It is a tale of struggle, depths and failures. But above all else, it is, and always will be, God’s story, told through His servants. Join us, friends, on this epic journey. Observe as Lady Ashley navigates the treacherous waters of ADHD and food allergies. Watch with baited breath as our valiant hero, Sir Drew, slays the dragons of mortgage payments and lawn care. Behold as Princess Caroline enters the court of elementary school and leads her young sisters in the ways of a princess. Cheer as sweet Princess Brinley conquers the battles of Autism. So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. ~2 Corinthians 5:6-7
